Most custom extrusions segmented to the Life Science arena serve the medical device market with flexible PVC and other material tubing products.
However, this grouping is often incomplete. Flexible tubing extrusions of select materials with specific properties, such as heat/cold tolerance or anti-leaching characteristics, are found in other healthcare related fields, whether pharmaceutical processing or physical therapy devices, or even include biological applications such as food and beverage processing. Pexco co-, para- and multilumen (multi-channel) extrusions are suited for these and other Life Science subcategories.
Yet no matter the end-use segment, the demands of these tubing product applications are often quite similar – the need for stringent quality standards and tight tolerance production; clean-room manufacturing and protocols; perhaps lubricious-ness, anti-kink or burst-strength material and dimensional requirements; and/or para- or co-extrusions of different polymeric materials or alternative substances altogether, such as copper wire for electrical conductivity.
Profile extrusions within Life Science products, on the other hand, may be of similar materials but their rigid configurations have to date lent themselves especially to environmental, hydro or geothermal device market applications and segments.
Pexco operates three clean-rooms across its multi-site footprint in North America, with two in Mexico.
