Testimonials: Guardrail Markers
Minnesota DOT: "We have used two different delineators. The initial delineator (guardrail2 and delineator2) was made of the same flexible material used for the object marker and was reflectorized with flexible high intensity sheeting. We have had problems with this marker with adhesion of the sheeting. Therefore, we investigated and prefer the newer marker. The newer marker is manufactured by Davidson Plastics and is 3 inches by 13 inches with a reflective surface of 3 inches by 6 inches. We have seen no failure with this delineator and intend to continue to use this delineator to mark all Metro guardrail installations.
However, I would recommend that we use VIP sheeting rather than high intensity sheeting for the added reflective performance. These delineators are mounted on the guardrail posts at a maximum spacing of 50 feet with a minimum of 4 delineators on a short guardrail installation. Comments from snowplow operators have been nothing but supportive to the point of them offering to install these markers on guardrail in their area. We are hoping to complete installation of these markers and delineators on all guardrail in the next 6 months."

Utah DOT: To improve and standardize the procedure for delineating barriers, the UDOT's Maintenance Division has retrofitted all barriers i.e. guardrail, concrete barrier, and structure parapet walls on Utah's interstate system... This new approach to barrier delineation called for a reflectorized delineator, attached at 50 foot centers, on all barriers... Approved for use was a straight delineator for use on guardrail installations. The straight designed delineators are 13 inches high and 3 inches wide. Two 2 ½ inch elector galvanized ring shank nails with neoprene washers are used to attach the reflectors onto wood guardrail posts. On steel posts, two ¼ inch x ¾ inch bolts with self locking nuts are used.
