A statistic from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) shows that over 30% of fatal crashes that occur are coded as single-vehicle-run-off-the-road accidents. This significant safety problem is being addressed with continuous shoulder rumble strips (CSRS) and other safety treatments by many highway agencies.
Raised rumble strips are 50 to 305 mm wide rounded or rectangular markers or strips that adhere to new or existing pavements. Some road agencies use raised buttons. Because their height can range from 6 mm to 13 mm, use of raised rumble strips is usually restricted to warmer climates that don't require snow removal.
Pexco Davidson's colored rumble strips provide both a visual and auditory warning in advance of traffic conditoins ahead. They also cause drivers to reduce speed and be alert to signals and signs that can safely lead them through hazardouz work zones.
Key features of Raised Rumble Strips:
- Made of solid, high impact thermoplastics
- UV stabilized for long life on the road
- Install with Butyl pads, hot melt, bitumen or 2-part epoxy for permanent application
- Available in red, white, blue, yellow and black
