Pexco to open extrusion center of excellence in Philadelphia, PA
ALPHARETTA (September 7, 2016) -- Pexco LLC, a leading North American specialty plastics developer and manufacturer, is highlighting its commitment to the plastics extrusion industry and markets with the opening of the Extrusion Center of Excellence showcase at its Philadelphia-area facility this fall. This center will offer engineering consultation and design services for custom extrusions to meet a variety of end-use challenges, as well as showcase Pexco’s unique and comprehensive industrial extrusion capabilities and history. The Extrusion Center of Excellence will formally open the week of October 3-7, a date chosen to coincide with Manufacturing Day.
The opening demonstrates Pexco’s emphasis on industrial customers. Having sold its aerospace division in 2015, the company is now focused primarily on medical products and custom industrial solutions. The industrial market encompasses the lighting, filtration, defense, and traffic safety sectors, as well as customers in other fields that require specialized plastic extrusions or molded parts.
According to Pexco CEO Neil Shillingford, the industrial segment often requires highly complex plastic solutions. “Customers who don’t have deep in-house plastic engineering capability benefit from our experience and engineering expertise. We work together to find real answers and the right solutions,” Shillingford added.
The Center of Excellence, located within an existing 65,000 square-foot facility in Morrisville, Penn., houses 12 extrusion lines, including three that are devoted to product development. In addition, there will be space for customers to collaborate with Pexco engineers and production specialists.
“With our extensive resources, Pexco is well positioned to support our customers in the dynamic industrial market. Stability, technical expertise, value-added engineering, and program management will all be available in one place,” Shillingford added.
