Lamp Obscurity Without Diminishing Light Transmission

COLUMBIA, S. C. (March 11, 2010) – An innovative material for lighting from Pexco, a leading extruder of plastic profile and sheet, helps hide lamp images without the use of overlays. Lighting profiles, sheets, wraps and tubes made from Durafrost® frosted acrylic deliver excellent light diffusion without reducing light output.

Durafrost acrylic maintains a consistent textured surface throughout, which eliminates hot spots as is the case with clear acrylic and some other frosted products. "Lighting components made from Durafrost acrylic are aesthetically pleasing without losing photometric efficiency," said Jack Black, Pexco Vice President of Sales/Lighting.

"The transmission is similar to clear acrylic but you gain hiding power. This means that lamp images and hot spots are obscured without causing adverse effects like eye strain," Black added.

Durafrost acrylic also offers excellent UV stability and improved scratch resistance compared to standard acrylic. This material is available in standard and impact grades in flat sheet (full sheets or run to size), tubes and custom profile shapes. Pexco offers a variety of standard colors and the ability to extrude Durafrost in custom colors as well.
