    On June 5, 2024, Pexco reinforces expansion initiatives with the acquisition of the Wallingford, CT facility of Clayens. This site is known for its dedicated high-performance plastic CNC machining, milling, multi-axis turning, Swiss machining, annealing, vapor polishing, and assembly.

    2022

    On November 2, 2022, capping a busy season of acquisitions, Pexo acquires Plastic Profiles, a niche stock shapes manufacturer specializing in fluoropolymer rods, tubes, and compression molded sheets.

    On September 15, 2022, Pexco continues expansion with the acquisition of Performance Plastics Ltd, a precision injection molder of high performance, tight tolerance components.

    On September 6, 2022, Pexco acquires Enflo LLC, one of the leading manufacturers of PTFE products in North America.

    On March 16, 2022, Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC acquired Pexco LLC for a second time. Another Odyssey Fund previously owned Pexco from 2012 to 2017.

    On December 1, 2021, Pexco LLC broadens its capabilities offerings through the acquisition of Performance Elastomers Corporation, based in Ravenna, Ohio.

    On March 1, 2021, Pexco LLC continues its expansion into the high performance polymer market with the acquisition of Altaflo, based in Sparta, New Jersey.

    On June 1, 2020, Pexco LLC announces the acquisition of Exlon Extrusion, Inc., based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

    March 2020, as a manufacturer of products supporting Essential Critical Infrastructure, Pexco LLC maintains full operational status in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Updates regarding Pexco’s ongoing response to the coronavirus situation are posted online and updated weekly.

    On January 31, 2020, Pexco LLC announces the acquisition of NDM Marking Systems, Inc. (“NDM”), based in Jasper, Georgia.

    On August 12, 2019, Pexco LLC continues its expansion initiatives through the acquisition of HPE Extrusion Solutions, based in Bally, Pennsylvania.

    On August 1, 2019, Pexco LLC announces an expansion through the acquisition of American Extruded Plastics, Inc. and American Injection Molding, Inc. – jointly based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

    Pexco moves its headquarters from Alpharetta, Georgia, to Johns Creek, Georgia.

    On November 30, 2018, Pexco LLC announces another expansion through the acquisition of Insultab, Inc. – based in Woburn, Massachusetts.

    On September 7, 2018, Pexco LLC acquires the Fence Products business of Polyform, Inc. a profile extruder located in Salem, OR and transfers the Fence business to its Tacoma, Washington, facility.

    On August 14, 2018, Pexco LLC announces the acquisition of Custom Extrusion, Inc. a profile extruder with 60 years of history and facilities in Sheffield, Massachusetts, and Asheboro, North Carolina.

    On April 9, 2018, under the ownership of AEA Investors, Pexco LLC returns to its roots as a purely Industrial custom extruder and becomes a separate entity, transitioning away from Spectrum Plastics Group.

    On February 1, 2018, Pexco LLC (part of Spectrum Plastics Group) is acquired by AEA Investors from Kohlberg & Company LLC.

    On May 8, 2017, Kohlberg & Company and PPC Industries, Inc. acquires Pexco LLC and forms the new Spectrum Plastics Group, with headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia.

    On November 17, 2016, Pexco sells its Chicago operation and Retail Point of Purchase display business to FFR Merchandising, Inc.

    By June 30, 2016, Pexco consolidates Scientific Plastics Corp. into its Spectrum Plastics Group operation in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    On December 30th, 2015, Pexco LLC acquired Scientific Plastics Corp., a specialty injection molder in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    On December 8th, 2015, Pexco LLC announced the acquisition of Precision Extrusion, Inc., an advanced medical tubing and catheter extrusion company.

    On May 14th, 2015, Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC announced that its portfolio company Pexco LLC has sold its aerospace business (“Pexco Aerospace”) to TransDigm Group Incorporated (NYSE: TDG). The Yakima, Washington and Huntington Beach, California operations are part of this transaction.

    Pexco organizes existing markets and plant operations including Aerospace, Lighting, Medical, Fence, Retail, Traffic and Custom into three operating divisions — Aerospace, Medical and Industrial.

    Pexco announces the closure of its Houston, Texas operation and consolidates its production into Pexco Chicago.

    On July 29th, 2013, Pexco acquired Scandia Plastics, Inc. of Plaistow, New Hampshire. Scandia is a custom extrusion business specializing in high-performance thermoplastic extrusions and down-stream value-add machining capabilities. Scandia sells to the filtration, medical, environmental, defense, and other industrial markets, processing a variety of high-end engineering resin materials.

    On September 3rd, 2013, Pexco entered the injection molding business, acquiring the Minnesota-based operation of Spectrum Plastics, Inc. Spectrum Minnesota (Spectrum) is a precision injection molder of advanced thermoplastics selling primarily into the medical and surgical, defense, and aerospace fields.

    On August 9th, 2012, Pexco was acquired by Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC from Saw Mill Capital LLC.

    On December 14th, 2012, Pexco exited the plastics sheet business to focus on profile extrusion and specialty plastics and announced the closure of its Columbia, South Carolina plant.

    2011

    Pexco buys Patrician Products Inc. of Hicksville, New York, a plastic extruder of fence and lawn and garden products. This acquisition solidifies Pexco’s fence product capabilities and expands its custom business. The Patrician operation is consolidated into Pexco’s existing extrusion facilities.

    Pexco acquires Multitube Medical Devices S.A. de C.V. of Mexicali, Mexico, which specializes in custom extrusions for the medical device, health and safety, and consumer product markets.

    Pexco buys ALLWEST Plastics of Huntington Beach, California. This acquisition solidifies Pexco’s aerospace and lighting capabilities and expands its custom business.

    Pexco acquires RDC Cytex of Houston, Texas. RDC Cytex specializes in retail store fixture extrusion and merchandising solutions.

    Filtrona Plc. sells its North American Plastic Profile and Sheet business, Filtrona Extrusion Inc., to private equity investor Saw Mill Capital Partners LP.

    Filtrona Extrusions Inc. is renamed Pexco LLC.

    2005

    The Filtrona fiber and plastic business, organized under Filtrona International Limited, demerges from Bunzl Plc. and becomes Filtrona Plc., a separate publicly traded company listed on Financial Times Stock Exchange 250 in London. Bunzl Extrusion, Filtrona’s plastic extrusion division, becomes Filtrona Extrusion, Inc.

    Filtrona Extrusion moves its headquarters from Richmond, Virginia, to Atlanta, Georgia.

    Bunzl Extrusion buys Davidson Plastics, a profile extruder, located in Tacoma, Washington. This facility specializes in fence, traffic safety, and other custom extrusions.

    Bunzl Extrusion acquires Pexco Inc., a specialty medical tubing extruder located in Northborough, Massachusetts. In 2007, Pexco of Northborough is merged with Duall Plastics in Athol, and the facility is expanded. The name Pexco is later reused and trademarked by the company in 2009 and adopted as its corporate identity.

    Bunzl Extrusion expands into Monterrey, Mexico by opening a new extrusion plant. Bunzl follows its existing lighting customers from the U.S. and expects to broaden its Mexican customer base. Today, this plant features the ability to extrude a wide range of product applications including lighting, refrigeration, medical, retail, and automotive.

    Bunzl Extrusion acquires Pioneer Plastics’ Fence Division – Logan, UT – a small Fence competitor and inherits two Fence product patents and transfers Fence products and business to Bunzl Extrusion’s Yakima, WA facility.

    Bunzl Extrusion acquires the custom profile division of Tri-Seal International, Blauvelt, NY. Specializing in Medical, Fence and Tubing products, the division is discontinued with the equipment and customers transferred and moved to Bunzl Extrusion’s Athol, MA facility.

    Bunzl Plc., a multinational distribution and outsourcing company headquartered in London, UK, acquires America Filtrona Corporation. The plastic extrusion companies under American Filtrona are realigned as a new entity – Bunzl Extrusion, Inc., which becomes a part of the worldwide Bunzl Plastics organization.

    American Filtrona Corporation (AFC) (Nasdaq-NNM: AFIL) has reached agreements to purchase the Tri-Lite Plastics profile extrusion businesses located near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Pell City, Alabama.

    American Filtrona Corporation acquires Duall Plastics of Athol, Massachusetts. Founded in 1949, Duall specialized in the design and manufacture of custom plastic extrusions for a range of industrial and consumer products such as children’s toys, board games, marine products and assorted Polyethylene tubing. In the following decade, Duall Plastics began manufacturing fence, recreational and medical products, as well as other custom extrusions. Today, this facility specializes in medical tubing, fence products, and other custom plastic extrusions.

    American Filtrona Corporation purchases A & B Plastics in Yakima, Washington. Founded in 1973, A & B Plastics manufactured fence and custom extruded plastics. Today, this facility specializes in aerospace and other custom extrusions.

    American Filtrona Corporation acquires Porth Plastics Co. of Des Plaines, Illinois. Founded in the early 1960s as a family business, Porth Plastics developed plastic products for commercial refrigeration, point of purchase retail, and landscaping. Today, this facility specializes in retail and other custom extrusions.

    American Filtrona Corporation, fiber extruder and supplier of cigarette filters and ink reservoirs, diversifies into plastics, acquiring Southern Plastics of Columbia, SC. Established in the early 1940s, Southern Plastics extruded sheet and profile plastics. This facility specialized in plastic extrusions for lighting fixtures and other custom segment applications.

Our Story

Several organizational ownership and name changes soon followed. In 1997, the company name was changed to Bunzl Extrusions Inc., in 2005 to Filtrona Extrusions Inc., and in 2009 to Pexco LLC, an investment of Saw Mill Capital Partners. On August 9th, 2012, Pexco was acquired by Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC from Saw Mill Capital. On May 9, 2017 Pexco was acquired by Kohlberg & Company, LLC and became part of the newly launched Spectrum Plastics Group, which combined the formerly separate business entities of Pexco LLC, PPC Industries, and Kelpac Medical under one name. On February 1, 2018, Spectrum Plastics Group was acquired by AEA Investors. On April 9, 2018, while still under the ownership of AEA Investors, Pexco LLC separated from Spectrum Plastics Group, returning to its roots and core competencies as a purely Industrial custom extruder.

Pexco is based north of Atlanta, Georgia, with multiple manufacturing facilities across the United States and Mexico. As North America’s leading custom extruder, Pexco offers a full range of extruded plastics design, engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication services. It meets the requirements of ISO 9001 and other key registrations and/or certifications for its manufacturing operations, providing standard and custom parts and finished assemblies to manufacturers and end-users across industrial and commercial market applications.

Pexco is a leading specialty plastics manufacturer satisfying the demands of Industrial and Commercial OEMs and customers for precision plastic components and sub- and finished assemblies. Pexco has been in existence in some form since 1970, and a few of its present operations date back individually to the early post-war years. We employ roughly 500 employees, operate plants in nearly every major manufacturing region in the United States and Mexico, and typify the notion of company stability and security in an industry known as much for the Mom & Pop as the One Trick Pony.

Pexco designs, manufactures, and fabricates both standard and custom plastic products. We have over 1,000 active customers; our top 10% occupy no more than 35% of revenue; we own over 3,000 dies; we process over 35 resin types, 500+ grades, and 400+ colors; we operate over 90 extrusion lines and over 15 co-extruders; we machine and finish raw and processed plastics on a variety of CNC lathes and milling equipment; we assemble finished solutions; we feature close to half a million square feet of manufacturing space; and we sell into strategic markets that feature promising growth dynamics and defensibility.
